Event description

Preventative Mental Health Skills for Auckland [Health] Students

Managing your mental health during University is hard enough as it is, even without worrying about changes to lectures, assessments, and labs or the social isolation created by a pandemic. Now that you've made it through the 1st semester of the year, you might have still be experiencing stress and anxiety anticipating the next semester to come.

Preventing mental health problems from arising or worsening is not only more effective and efficient than waiting until it has already become a significant problem, but it’s actually easier too!

NOTE: This workshop was previously run earlier in the year, so if you have attended that one, the content will run exactly the same. If you previously attended, you are still welcome to come along for a recap.

In this free workshop...

Learn to manage your mental health by the psychologist who has worked with specialist police squads and international war victims.

Join Rajna Bogdanovic, a clinical psychologist, in learning how you can manage anxiety, overcome stressors, support your friends, and take care of yourself like a professional.

  1. 'Rate' how your stress and anxiety management skills are
  2. Identify common patterns and symptoms seen with people who struggle to manage stress and anxiety sustainably
  3. Learn about the neuropsychology behind why and how we get anxious and stressed and how studying can trigger this
  4. Learn and practice evidence-based techniques used by clinical psychologists to help overcome and manage this.

Location: Future Stables, Level B, 16 Anzac Avenue, Auckland CBD.

Who is it for?

Any currently enrolled FMHS student at the University of Auckland.
