Join us for a fun-filled woodworking workshop dedicated to all things birds, brought to you by Auckland Council Waste Solutions! 

We’ll be building birdhouses and feeders to invite more feathered friends into your garden. 

Ever wondered what kind of home a morepork prefers compared to a tūī?  Together, we’ll explore the different needs of native birds and build shelters suited to them. Plus, we’ll get creative and upcycle a wine bottle into a unique bird feeder—perfect for attracting hungry visitors. Get ready to build, learn, and bring more birdlife to your backyard!

Join us for a hands-on woodworking experience at The ReCreators Green Space! In this full-day workshop, you'll learn how to safely use power tools while .

This beginner-friendly class will cover:
Safe handling of power toolsOptional decorating and finishing techniques

There will be a health and safety briefing at the start of the workshop to inform participants of safety precautions before we begin using tools.

This workshop will cover tools such as a power drill, jigsaw/ skill saw, and a variety of sanders. All participants must wear covered shoes and non-flowing clothing (tight-ish!). 

Some work may be outdoors, so please wear clothes according to the weather.

* Please note that children are not able to attend with parents due to health and safety requirements.

* Teens are welcome to join with the attending guardian. 

*Please bring your own snack, lunch and water bottle. 

You need to arrive at this workshop for the beginning of class and the health and safety briefing to be able to take part in the rest of the class.

The workshop will provide the following:

  • Health and Safety Briefing
  • Step by step use of all tools
  • Where to extend yourself for tools 101
  • Personal attention where required.

When: Saturday 17 May, 10 am - 4pm
