Event description

Thursday 28th April 10.30am-12.00pm - Dunedin Public Art Gallery.

A fun, hands-on art workshop run by artists, Kerry Mackay and Pamela Brown from theartdept.org.

Every little artist will draw and paint to customise their own insect hotel.

Reusing card and foil milk containers that would have otherwise been taken to the refuge centre, you will create a home for an insect assisted by Kerry and Pamela from theartdept.

Make a home for your insects in your backyard.  Kerry and Pamela will go over the options of where and how to set up an insect hotel. It could be up in a tree or down on the ground with bricks either side to keep it cosy and warm over winter.

Parents welcome to make one too.

The  session is from 10.30am-12pm. Maximum number for the workshop is 15 children - only book for your children - adults are not counted in numbers. You will need to arrive at 10 minutes before the session and it's not the sort of event where you can join in half way through. Young artists will be encouraged to finish their hotels at home if not totally completed during the workshop.

theartdeptsupport the Wild Dunedin festival, so are providing this workshop free of charge, but we ask for a $3 materials charge for each hotel made, to help with art material costs - bring the cash on the day.

Max 20 participants (children and adults)

Cost: $3/hotel brought on the day to contribute to materials.
