Make a Garden Trug, West Auckland RE: MAKER SPACE, Friday 13 September, 10am - 1pm
Event description
Proudly brought to you by the Auckland Council Waste Solution.
In this workshop, The ReCreators will teach you about woodwork and how to safely use tools. You will head home with your very own TRUG!
Trugs are compact, shallow and easy-to-carry baskets used primarily for carrying garden produce or flowers but also could be used for transporting your small garden tools. Your trug is an elegant yet practical way to bring your garden produce inside. Perhaps you want to make one as the perfect gift for the gardener in your life? This will be an enriching and hands-on workshop with our experienced woodworking tutor Buffie.
Learn about upcycling wood and embrace a more sustainable way of living for our planet.
There will be a health and safety briefing at the start of the workshop to inform participants of safety precautions before we begin using tools.
Tools that will be covered in this workshop are a jigsaw, power drill, and sander.
All participants must wear covered shoes and non-flowing clothing (tight-ish!).
Some work may be outdoors, please wear clothes according to the weather.
* Please note children are not able to attend with parents due to health and safety requirements.
You need to arrive at this workshop for the beginning of class and the health and safety briefing to be able to take part in the rest of the class.
The workshop will provide the following:
- Health and Safety Briefing
- Step by step use of all tools
- Where to extend yourself for tools 101
- Personal attention where required
When: Friday 13 September, 10am - 3pm
