In this class you'll learn the fundamentals of engrain turning and box making on the lathe. All materals are included, and you'll even take home your own handmade box!

Our maximum class size is 4 people, so you will get lots of 1 on 1 instruction. This is a safe and welcoming place for anyone to learn -- including women, people of color, or gender-nonconforming folks. NOTES: Please wear close-toed shoes and remove any dangling jewelry or clothing items (like hoodie strings) before joining class. Safety first! A water bot4e will also be helpful to stay hydrated (there's filtered water and ice available).

What is the location like?

The woodshop is in a larger maker space. It's an exciting place were people make all kinds of things from 3d printing to soysauce. Prepare to be covered in wood at some point.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Driving: There is free street parking on 19th Street. Please don't leave valuables visible and lock your vehicle.

Public Transportation: The nearest BART station is th West Oakland station. We can't offer a ride from BART, but you can grab a cab or rideshare service from the station.Easy Peasy.
