Make A Marngrook with Amanda-Jean Hoskins, Shelley Ware & The Outer Sanctum
Event description
Join Amanda-Jean Hoskins, Shelley Ware and The Outer Sanctum for a celebration of footy, culture and community. Led by Amanda-Jean, we will sit together and make our own Marngrooks which you will be able to keep. We will hear from Amanda-Jean and Shelley about this cultural practice and the long First Nations history of the game of Marngrook.
Amanda-Jean is a Yuin woman who has lived on Wurundjeri land for her whole life. She believes that sharing culture with others is important so that we all feel a deep connection to the beauty of First Nations culture and can celebrate it together. Amanda-Jean has a big heart and is always the first offer help to others. As a cancer survivor who is now facing further surgery, we have an opportunity to support her, so that she can recover and return to being an active mum and running her workshops which bring joy to many.
Shelley Ware is a proud Yankunyjatjara and Wirangu woman and has been a leading light in football media for over a decade. She is an educator, who shares her personal journey and experiences in sport and on Aboriginal issues in many different forums.
The Outer Sanctum is a group of ten women, including Shelley, who share their insights and experiences around football and social issues each week via their award winning podcast.
All profits from this event will go to support Amanda-Jean through her surgery.
