Event description

Proudly brought to you by the Waipā Waste Minimisation Fund!

In this hands-on workshop, The ReCreators will guide you through the basics of woodworking and safe tool use, as you craft your very own Strawberry Planter from upcycled wood! A vertical planter is perfect for saving space in sunny spots, allowing your strawberries to cascade from the edges.

It’s also an ideal height for children to easily pick fresh, delicious berries—and easy to net, keeping the birds at bay!

Join our expert woodworking tutor, for an enriching and creative session.

Learn about upcycling wood and embrace a more sustainable way of living for our planet.

There will be a health and safety briefing at the start of the workshop to inform participants of safety precautions before we begin using tools.

All participants must wear covered shoes and non-flowing clothing (tight-ish!).

Some work may be outdoors, please wear clothes according to the weather.

Please bring water bottle, lunch and snack for yourself.

* Please note children are not able to attend with parents due to health and safety requirements.

You need to arrive at this workshop for the beginning of class and the health and safety briefing to be able to take part in the rest of the class.

The workshop will provide the following:

  • Health and Safety Briefing
  • Step by step use of all tools
  • Where to extend yourself for tools 101
  • Personal attention where required

When:  Sunday 10 November. 11am - 3pm

Where: Kiihkiki Town Hall, 26 Lyon Street, Kihikihi.
