Make an Expressionist Artist Book

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Make an expressionist artist book with daughter and mother team, artists Karen McPhail-Bell and Jennie Bell.

Prepare to have fun as we connect to water and place at Hinze Dam, on the land of the Kombumerri people. This workshop is all about creating moments of joy through play and connection. It’s not about making a “good drawing” or a “good painting”; it’s about using arts-based methods to help us pay attention and connect with the place of water.

We will begin with a short listening walk to a nearby platform overlooking Hinze Dam. While observing the waterlines and dam surroundings, you will create a quick, responsive sketch onsite.

You will then be guided stage-by-stage to create your artist book. Choose from a selection of dry mark-making art tools and materials to express your response to the Hinze Dam waterlines. Your artist book will evolve into your own one-of-a-kind creation with gestural marks and impressions of spontaneity that only you can make.

You may surprise yourself at the visual responses you find you create and discover a deeper unspoken connection to the waterlines of Hinze Dam!
