Shell Wall Hangings at SECCA - School Holiday Workshop, Naidoc Week Event, Ages 5 - 12
Event description
Emma Stewart is a local exhibiting artist, cultural connector and proud Bidjigal and Gweagal woman. Join Emma in using natural materials to make her incredible wall hangings. Children will learn about traditional connections to materials such as quandong seeds and emu feathers. Each child will make their own shell wall hanging to take home.
Emma's Grandmothers and Aunties have a long history of making artworks using natural materials, the knowledge and skills that Emma will share has been passed down through many generations. Emma respectfully teaches and celebrates the traditional First Nation culture of the communities that reside across the Far South Coast.
Our land, our people, our spiritual world is connected by our First Nation community passing their knowledge, skills and stories onto all peoples so that it is not forgotten.
