Make Friends With Your Numbers for Directors

Foundations of Financial Literacy - online - 1 hour

Does your plan for 2024 include doing the Company Directors Course with the Australian Institute of Company Directors?

Great; I can't recommend it highly enough.  As a facilitator of the Financial Literacy and Performance module I might well see you there.

    • Or, as a non-finance person, is your concern around the financial aspects of the course causing a bit of angst or even holding you back from signing up?
    • Or, you've previously done the course and still feel like there's some big gaps in your finance knowledge, and  would love a refresher?

Well you're not alone.  I typically find that more than 50% of CDC participants assess their level of financial literacy as low or very low, and come into the room on day 4 feeling very unsure of themselves and somewhat anxious around the finances.

If this sounds a bit like you, it doesn't need to be like this.

    Let's start with the basics

You may be feeling out of your depth, and where you need to start is at the beginning with the basics. And you wouldn't be the only one. Deciphering the jargon that accountants use, understanding the fundamentals of accounts through the balance sheet and profit & loss account is a good place to start.  Let me help you on your financial literacy journey, and get you up to speed so that you'll feel much more comfortable talking numbers.

Have you got 1 hour to join me on-line?

Join me and your colleagues for this FREE 1 hour on-line Foundations of Financial Literacy for Directors on Tuesday 16 January 2024 at 12 noon AWST.

    We will cover:

    • the jargon- defining some key terms such as assets, liabilities, equity, revenue and expenses,
    • what is a balance sheet, why do we need it and how does it balance,
    • the profit & loss account and it's purpose, and
    • how the profit& loss account and balance sheet inter-relate.

What will you walk away with?

    • A better understanding of some of the basic accounting concepts and terms in plain English.
    • A better understanding of the importance of the balance sheet and why we need it to supplement the profit & loss.
    • More confidence to tackle the Financial Literacy and Performance content of the Company Directors Course.

“There are not many people who can make finances for non-financial people a fun and interesting topic.”

    Jane Chilcott, CEO, Linkwest

I for one didn’t want to admit I did not have a clue how to interpret a balance sheet. Thanks to Debbie and this fabulously interesting and fun way of learning accounting, I am now able to do this with confidence.”
