This full-day, design thinking workshop will inspire, empower and develop your creative confidence to start your side hustle, get a new idea off the ground at work or start a new business.

In this workshop, you will learn how to explore the possibility of innovation and catalyse a new idea into potential new products and services and sustainability initiatives Fishburners. Participants will gain a practical understanding of Human-Centred Design, and key methods that can support collaborative problem-solving and innovation. With a "method -> mechanics -> try it" approach, participants will be able to learn and use the tools to reinforce what they've learned and work in small groups to define and empathise, design and deliver a pitch and rapid prototype.

About the Facilitator

John is an accomplished leader and facilitator of design-thinking led products, services and experiences. In his 15+ years in this field, John has led AMP's Human-Centred Design practitioner program, where, as a certified LUMA Institute instructor he has coached more than 1,000 people and dozens of teams in HCD, and is certified in Agile, Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.

A native New Yorker who has lived in Sydney for 20 years, John has built expertise in financial services, insurance, banking, manufacturing, consulting and commercial property management in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, UK, Switzerland and the USA. John has helped clients and worked at companies including UBS, AMP, Commonwealth Bank, Accenture, SCOR, Bartter Steggles and Cushman & Wakefield.

John has been a judge for AMP’s Tomorrow Fund and for entrepreneurial students at Macquarie University; he has been a panellist speaker at Coca Cola Amatil's Innovation Day and is a startup hub lunch and learn contributor and startup mentor in HCD in Sydney.

John's focus is on the practical delivery and use of his know-how and is passionate about sharing his capabilities with others to help them succeed.
