Di founded the Far North Resilient Communities Charitable Trust in 2015.
She holds a Post Graduate Degree with the University of Cumbria in the UK on Sustainable Leadership; Sustainable Exchange (AKA Alternative Economics, one of the papers) was the reason she did the Post Grad. She is looking forward to continuing to implement Sustainable Exchange systems here in the Far North. Conventional money is not exactly abundant in the Far North, and there are many various alternatives that be could used; Timebanks is one wonderful example that helps create wonderful caring and cohesive communities.
Born in the Far North, she has a huge family network which she values. During much of her life she has been almost completely self sufficient, with at times meat, a house-cow providing not only milk but also lovely icecreams and cheeses, and a large vege garden and orchard to top it off. Making household cleaners, laundry liquids etc, helps cut out as much processed stuff as possible.
One of her favourite quotes is, from the late Margaret Meads; "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world, indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has".
