Sharing stories of your every day life enriches and strengthens connections in the community, in your family, in your life, and builds your sense of belonging and worthiness in the world.

A life storybook or journal can provide a memoir to share with your love ones and to keep as a memory of special life events or an outlet to put thoughts and images to paper. You can use it to help remember moments about growing up, your family, your school days, the places you have lived and other things about yourself. You can write, draw, stitch, paint, and paste whatever you want into your book.

In this workshop you will:

immerse yourself in activities that will get your creativity flowing
design the structure of your book
learn how to make hand bound books using Japanese stab binding technique using simple and complex binding patterns.
be provided the opportunity to make your books using other binding techniques if time allows.
make at least one book.

You will be guided by Annette Rohde of Fresh Ginger Creative on making a storybook or journal and provided prompts to get you started.

I look forward to sharing this experience with you and helping you to honour and express the heart threads of wealth and knowledge that come from the experiences in your life.

All materials will be supplied but feel free to bring any paper, fabric, twine, ideas, images or materials that you would like to include in your life storybook.

Where: This event will be held in beautiful Aldinga Beach at the Curiosity Cafe, home of Fresh Ginger Creative, situated between the scrub and the beach. This event is part of an ongoing series of creative workshops.

Annette is involved in running creative and business planning workshops and community arts projects focussed towards making an impact on community health and wellbeing through sharing stories.

Annette has a Bachelor of Communications and a Masters in Visual Art & Design along with certificates in Mental Health First Aid, Understanding Dementia and Preventing Dementia.

Annette is a lover of art, animals and all things that work towards a kinder and more sustainable planet.
