  Eireann Ianetta-MacKay

  Eireann grew up in Perthshire and began piping at the age of 5. She and her dad began lessons with Dougie Reid in 2001 and played with local bands, joining the Vale of Atholl grade 1 pipe band at 16. She recently joined the Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band and won her first Grade 1 Major Championship in 2025. Eireann has been on the solo circuit since her junior days, initially being taught by Ian Duncan and Anne Spalding. When she left for university, Eireann took up lessons with Margaret Houlihan whom she has been taught by ever since, and recently Roddy MacLeod MBE for Piobaireachd. She regularly travels around the highland games with her fiancé, Sandy Cameron, and competes in A grade piobaireachd and B grade light music events. Eireann grew up next door to the Duncan family (Ian, Chris, Tina & Alex Duncan), and so Gordon Duncan's music has been a significant influence on her piping, along with her enjoyment of piobaireachd embedded in her music from a young age - largely through Anne Spalding's teachings.

  Anna Kummerlöw

  Anna Kummerlöw, was raised in Hamburg, her family becoming the first family of pipers in Germany. She began her piping journey under the guidance of her late father, Joachim Kummerlöw. Alongside her mother Heidi (also a piper), Anna’s parents were instrumental in building the thriving piping community that currently exists in Germany. As a teenager Anna looked overseas to further her piping, seeking tuition at the National Piping Centre and attending the Austrian Summer School. Anna is currently taught by Callum Beaumont and spends time traveling to Scotland for the Highland Games circuit. She has had great success in both the German and the Scottish competition scene, including winning the Gold Medal at the Braemar Gathering (2017), second in the Silver Medal at Inverness (2023) and is one of a few women to compete at the Argyllshire Gathering and the Northern Meeting. Anna is also Pipe Major of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the Clan MacLanborough Pipes and Drums and plays with the German Thistle Pipes and Drums. Beyond her competitive success, Anna was president of the Bagpipe Association of Germany (BAG) and is a piping adjudicator at most major competitions in Germany. Professionally, Anna teaches secondary school English and Latin, and of course pipes. Anna is a leading piper, inspiration and integral part to the German piping scene.

  Eala McElhinney

  Eala has been playing pipes since the age of 7. She was initially taught by Bob McFee at the College of Piping and now has lessons with John Mulhearn and Margaret Houlihan. She is currently in second year at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, studying for the BMus in Traditional Music – Piping. She competes in solo piping around Scotland, where she has competed in the final of Piping Live!’s prestigious Pipe Idol U21 competition, as well as winning the Intermediate MSR at the 2025 Argyllshire Gathering. This prize gained her an invitation to the Lochnell Championship for pipers aged Under 22, where she placed 3rd in the Piobaireachd section. She hopes to continue progressing in solo piping to reach the top prizes in future.

  Sarah Muir

  Sarah is from Campbeltown, Argyll and currently lives in East Kilbride with her partner, Steven. Sarah began piping at the age of 10, receiving tuition from Ian McKerral and later Jim Henderson, Stuart Samson and Glenn Brown. Sarah is currently taught by Willie McCallum (for 15+ years) and graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) in Scottish Music - Piping. Sarah has had a successful solo career, winning the A grade MSR at the Northern Meeting (2025), the MSR at the Uist & Barra Invitational Competition (2024 & 2020), the A grade Marches at the Argyllshire Gathering (2019) and the Dunvegan Medal at the Skye Highland Gathering (2019). Sarah also won the 2025 Pipe-Major’s Wheel of Fortune Invitational Solo Piping Competition, a fun and creative contest by the City of Edinburgh Pipe Band. Sarah has had great success in the pipe band scene throughout her piping career. She was a member of the Kintyre Schools Pipe Band, Inveraray and District Pipe Band and Shotts and Dykehead Caledonia Pipe Band, winning the World Pipe Band Championships in 2015. Sarah works as an educator within the Fife Council Region, teaching our next generation of pipers.

  Hazel Whyte

  Hazel began her music journey at age seven in North Lanarkshire becoming proficient in the alto saxophone, piano and pipes. Hazel’s pipe band career has seen her with the North Lanarkshire Schools Pipe Band (2014-2020) and also as a member of the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland (2017-2024), both bringing her immense opportunity and experience. Hazel is currently a member of the Royal Burgh of Anna Pipe Band. Hazel is a graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with a Bachelor’s Degree in Traditional Music - Piping, with First Class Honours. Hazel has since completed a Graduate Diploma in Education (Music) and is pursuing her passion, with a career in music education and teaching. Hazel has also been a member of the Edinburgh Military Tattoo Pipes and Drums, performing in both the Norwegian and Edinburgh Military Tattoo (2024). Hazel has also performed at Celtic Connections and HRH The King’s Scottish Coronation, Piping Live, Tartan Day Parade New York and a special performance for the late HM Queen Elizabeth. Hazel participated in the Trainee Tutor programme with the NYPBS (2024) and is currently a piping tutor with the North Lanarkshire Schools Pipe Band and a Music Instructor with South Lanarkshire Council. She has taught at the Larkhall Youth Pipes and Drums project, The South West Scotland Piping and Drumming Academy and The College of Piping PEI, Summerside, Canada.

  Hannah Rarity is a leading figure in the Scottish folk scene, celebrated for her exceptional voice and dynamic musical presence. Since winning the prestigious BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year award in 2018, she has consistently impressed audiences and critics alike. Hannah's talent has led her to collaborate with some of the most respected names in folk music, including Blazin’ Fiddles, Rura, Niteworks and Cherish the Ladies, and has seen both of her solo albums shortlisted for Album of the Year at the MG Alba Scots Music Awards. A versatile and personable performer, she is in high demand as a collaborator, session vocalist, tutor, and MC, hosting both Celtic Connections’ renowned Late Night Sessions & 'Brew and A Blether’s, as well as the NYPBS’s annual showcase concerts for the last couple of years.
