Makin Family Fundraiser

Money raised will help us to support to the Makin Family, who’s world came crashing down in early June 2021 receiving news that Shane had developed an aggressive, malignant tumour that had grown into the stem of his brain - a Grade 4 Glioblastoma, the most aggressive type of brain tumour you can get.

After dropping everything at short notice, Nat and Shane rushed down to Sydney where Dr Teo was able to remove the tumour, however Shane has limited movement in his left side and requires months of rehabilitation to help him walk again. 

Things couldn’t look worse, but on the very same day they left interstate, Sydney was thrown into a state of COVID-19 lockdown resulting in Shane and Nat being unable to come home due to Hotel Quarantine as he needed to start his rehabilitation, chemo / radiation treatment immediately.

Whilst his family and friends have rallied around them the best they can, and as great as Dr Charlie Teo is, his brilliance doesn’t come cheap! Neither does Sydney accommodation, travel and general living expenses. 

We are hosting this family fundraiser to help the family with ongoing costs related to the surgery, rehabilitation, accommodation in Sydney and whatever they need. Nat is not able to return to work and is Shane's full time Carer.

The road ahead is a long one and if we can help lighten the load for the family by taking away some of the financial stresses then they can concentrate on spending time together as a family which is priceless.
