Maths is so important to our everyday lives. Yet educators may lack confidence and knowledge to deliver a creative, exciting, foundational mathematics program for young children. This 2 part workshop series explores personal beliefs about maths and shows how this influences confidence in our intentional teaching and emergent practice. You will learn the language of maths, links to the Early Years Learning Framework, a deeper understanding of mathematical content knowledge and how to make the most of every opportunity to embed learning in our everyday pedagogy. You’ll be well on your way to becoming a mathematics pedagogue by learning how to use familiar objects and loose parts to enrich children’s knowledge and problem solving in the centre environment.

PLEASE NOTE: This Professional Learning series has two parts. You will receive the link for Part One on booking. The zoom link will then be sent to attendees for Part Two which will be held on the 29th March at 4:00pm. To get the most out of this series, you need to attend both sessions as content is divided across the two sessions.Time is used between the two sessions for the application of learning.

Completing 'Early Start-Making a mathematical difference: Becoming a mathematical pedagogue' before 31 July 2021 under NESA's interim arrangements will contribute 3 hours of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Accredited PD in the priority area of Delivery and assessment of EYLF addressing standard descriptors 2.1.2, 2.5.2, 3.3.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
