In this conversation event, psychologist and broadcaster Greta Bradman talks to broadcaster and writer Jacinta Parsons about making values-based decisions. They will explore how to harness our values as an incredible resource, and consider how to do this in the context of living with chronic illness.

Join us for this intimate conversation event as we hear personal stories, approaches from psychology and neuroscience, and plenty of useful tips for making unapologetic and self-led decisions in service of a life well lived.

About Jacinta Parsons

Jacinta Parsons is a broadcaster, radio maker, writer, and public speaker. She currently hosts Afternoons on ABC Melbourne delivering a popular mix of art, culture and ideas. She began her radio-life at community radio station 3RRR over a decade ago, where she hosted several shows including Breakfasters and Detour. But her peak Melbourne moment came earlier, when she worked as a tram conductor (proudly wearing one of the last of the Connie’s green uniforms).

Jacinta has lived with Crohn’s disease for over 20 years and is an ambassador for the Crohn’s and Colitis Association and speaks and writes about the impact of living with chronic illness. She is also an active member of the arts & music community and is a board member for Melbourne disability theatre company, Rollercoaster.

About Greta Bradman

Greta Bradman is a clinically-trained, registered psychologist whose passion is human values and decision-making. She is also a writer, speaker, ABC broadcaster, and founder of tech startup Eiris - a values-based decision making tool, currently in its beta phase. In her former life as a classical soprano she released four number one albums for Universal Music and Sony. She is completing her Senior Executive MBA at Melbourne Business School.

Describing herself as an insatiably curious, data-informed storyteller, Greta’s psychology practice revolves around performance optimisation and support, anxiety disorders, identity-related issues, and decision-making. Greta incorporates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (MBCBT), Metacognitive Therapy (MCT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing and mindfulness, and learnings from decision neuroscience. Alongside working on-on-one, Greta has run many workshops in organisational settings around the intersection of personal and organisational values and decision-making.
