Making in the Early Years
Event description
Environmental Education in Early Childhood (EEEC) invites you to "Making in the Early Years," an engaging workshop held during the National Sustainability Festival in Melbourne. This workshop highlights the creative and sustainable possibilities of crafting with and for young children.
Join us on Saturday, February 22nd at Barry Beckett Children’s Centre, Coburg North for a mix of interactive experiences and inspiring displays tailored for early childhood educators, parents/carers, and sustainability enthusiasts. Explore eco-friendly, practical ideas such as:
- Turning socks into whimsical creations.
- Crafting rope dolls with simple techniques.
- Sewing capes, aprons, and skirts using shared patterns.
- Plus, many more hands-on activities.
Join this free workshop to embrace creativity, sustainability, and resourcefulness! Designed for adults, the workshop provides a space to explore frugal creativity while crafting simple, durable resources for use at home or in educational settings. Children are welcome to attend and can enjoy the outdoor environment while you dive deeper into hands-on learning.
Take-home kits and additional resources will be available for purchase at a small cost. Celebrate the joy of crafting as we inspire a love for sustainability and collaboration—let’s work together to create a more sustainable future!
