Making Ojos de Dios - Feast of Cultures

Ojos de Dios (God’s Eyes), is a traditional craft form with roots in Latin American cultures.

Viviana is a Colombian psychologist and textile artist, residing in Central Victoria with her young family. Viviana enjoys creating with her hands both on her own and alongside her children. As a way to slow down, connect, and bring a sense of calm into everyday life. “For me, crafting is not only creative, but also a gentle form of meditation.”

In this workshop, Viviana will be guiding a beautiful and meaningful activity called Ojos de Dios (God’s Eyes), a traditional craft with roots in Latin American cultures. These colourful woven pieces are created by wrapping yarn around crossed sticks, forming vibrant and joyful designs.

In many South and Central American traditions, Ojos de Dios are made as symbols of love, dreams, and good wishes. They are often created for children, representing hopes for their future, their imagination, and the beautiful path they are growing into.

This is a simple, relaxing, and joyful activity, perfect for families to create together. No prior experience is needed—just a willingness to explore, connect, and enjoy the process.
