Making Waves: A Wildlife Health Student Workshop
Event description
The 2024 CANUSA Student Workshop (in the past called the Pre-Conference Workshop) will be held in September 6-9,2024 at St. Matthews University in the Cayman Islands, a location providing common ground between Canada, USA and Latin American students. This workshop will provide students with a hands-on experience learning about wildlife disease and conservation within the Caribbean. At the workshop, experienced researchers and veterinarians will help educate the students through lectures, films, necropsies, and field experiences focusing on sea turtle health, coral conservation, stingray handling and data collection, professional development, and more. To generate interest leading up to the workshop, WDA CANUSA is hosting free monthly webinars featuring scientists in wildlife health and conservation within the Caribbean.
Our sponsors for this event include: The Wildlife Disease Association, St. Matthews University, University of Edinburgh, The Ritz Carlton, The Holiday Inn Grand Cayman Resort, Island Aquatics, Mariner Surf Co., Red Sail Sports, and the Center for Wildlife Studies.
