Event description

Making watercolour paint... some necessities

For those who want to know a bit more about the how and why of watercolour I     am offering a workshop in making your own watercolour (or gouache) paints. Many artists have a brand of paint they prefer. Zoltan Szabo wrote a book where he noted different brands of preferred colours. Making your own paints helps you understand why different brands vary and you will go home with a minimum of 4 watercolour paints in mini lidded pots to use in your paintings.... a blue, a red, a yellow and a powerful opaque Titanium white which quite honestly is the best I have ever used in more than 30 years of painting and teaching about watercolour (yes, white in a watercolour is usually the white of the paper but sometimes a good opaque white is valuable).

You can make your colours strong by using more pigment. You can also make them more of less likely to flow on the paper or more or less likely to granulate.

My Science background helps me understand the chemical properties and I want to share that with others
