This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Vanessa Berry is a writer, artist, and one of Australia's best-known zine makers, having been active in the zine scene since the ‘90s. Her zines have been exhibited at institutions such as the Museum of Contemporary Art and National Gallery of Australia, and are held in major library and museum collections. She is author of Mirror Sydney.

In this workshop, you will learn about the experimental form of writing and publishing zines, and work to produce your own zine.

Zines are limited print-run, hand-made publications, and are an excellent way to experiment with writing and visual storytelling. They are used by writers, poets, illustrators and artists to produce unique and engaging literary works. In this workshop, Vanessa will guide you through the process of zine-making, including writing, collage, printing, and other hand-made processes.

All materials are provided, however, participants are welcome to bring some writing, art, or images to use in their zine-making. Participants will also be asked to do a short, simple exercise in the week before the workshop.

This workshop is best suitable for ages 16+, however, if you are younger and interested please don’t hesitate to contact us on 4228 0151, as the workshop can easily accommodate a younger audience as well.
