Managing tracks, access trails and erosion on rural land
Event description
Join us in Smiths Lake on a tour of Council Reserves where recent fire trail upgrades have been implemented using best practice management techniques to minimise erosion and ensure soil stability and longevity of trails. We will be welcoming our members, NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust staff and clients, and staff from MidCoast2Tops Landcare, MidCoast Council, and Local Land Services.Â
Erosion specialist Michael Barberie (LLS) will explain best practice management in a range of situations including: maintenance for erosion prevention, steep slope trails, and bed level crossings.
The Council reserves are on Worimi Country and home to Coastal Blackbutt Forest with Rainforest gullies that house unique fauna, such as Yellow-bellied and Greater Gliders.
This your opportunity to visit a beautiful public conservation property, learn about how to manage and maintain access on your land, and to network with like-minded landholders from our region. A light morning tea will be provided.
The event will involve considerable walking over rough tracks and is only suitable for able-bodied people. It is free for all Landholders in the MidCoast Area, Landcare members and volunteers, but a fee may be charged for others (consultants, external staff etc) at the discretion of MidCoast2Tops Landcare.
This event is possible thanks to the shared work of the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust and Landcare NSW under the Private Land Conservation Matters project.
