Event description

Kia Ora, Manawa Family!

Get ready for a special Halloween edition of Manawa Ecstatic Dance—designed for the whole family!

Our mission is to create safe spaces where people of all ages can explore and express their inner worlds through ecstatic dance and the arts, right here in Tāmaki Makaurau, on the ancestral land of the Ngāti Whātua, Tainui, and Ngāti Pāoa peoples.

What is Ecstatic Dance?

Ecstatic Dance is a free-form movement practice that focuses on self-expression, liberation, and connection. There are no specific steps or structured routines—everyone is free to move in a way that feels natural and authentic to them, guided by the magical sound journeys curated by DJ Morpho.

This event is an opportunity to dress up, let loose, and express yourself! Feel free to come in costume and let your body tell its own story.

For the Little Ghosts and Ghouls:

We'll have some special family-friendly art activities to keep the kids engaged and enchanted throughout the event. This is a space where they can dance, play, and celebrate in a fun and safe environment!

**Guidelines to Keep the Magic Alive:**

To ensure a safe and welcoming space for everyone, we have a few simple guidelines:

- No alcohol

- No shoes (dance barefoot and free)

- No phones (let’s stay present)

We encourage everyone to wear fun costumes, and don’t forget your water bottle!

After the dance, we’ll gather for warm, vegan-friendly Chai Tea—made with love, of course!

Tickets:

- Online: $25

- On the door (cash or bank transfer): $30

**Manawa**

At Manawa, we’re on a mission to build a community without judgment or competition. Instead, we want to create an environment filled with love, kindness, and respect towards oneself and others.

Our events are all about self expression through ecstatic dance and the arts connecting us to ourselves, to be guided by our hearts, we belief that each of us has a unique heartbeat, connecting us through frequency and energy.

Together, we can create a space where everyone feels valued and heard, and where the heartbeat of the people is felt in every interaction, and where we arrive at the realisation that we are one with the world and the universe.

He manawa o te tangata. The heartbeat of the people.
