Established in 2019, Mango Matic is a musical project from Brisbane, Australia. Accomplished musicians from Colombia, Venezuela, El Salvador and Australia bring to the table a blend of many influences; from jazz to rock, funk and Latin rhythms, they take you on a world music journey full of surprising twists and refreshing tunes. With influences from Saint Germain, Kenny Garrett, Gotan Project, Santana and Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Mango Matic delivers unique grooves that fuse these elements together. Most of the songs we play live are our own songs, in which we take pride and put a lot of work on, but we also love to squeeze in a couple of popular covers to keep the audience engaged and make sure everyone in the room is having a great time with songs like “Le Freak” or “That’s the way I like it” by the KC & The Sunshine Band, always with our own twist and unique signature style.
Mango Matic’s second full length album “Bestia Loca” is out now; with an amazing cast of 11 musicians, it will take you on a latin fusion trip, from cumbia, to rock, to reggae and everything in between; hear it now in all digital platforms including Spotify and Youtube among others.
Their first album, "Walk With Me", is a representation of individual stories and the music of the world: smells, colours, tastes, hope, pain and love reflected in every song.
We have had the privilege of playing in a few of the most important live music scenarios in Brisbane such as The Triffid, Lefty’s Music Hall and The Brightside, all of them being successful and gathering more and more people in each of the performances, where we have collaborated with other bands from different backgrounds, helping us to create an important name within the Latin and Brisbane live music community. At the moment we are talking with festivals and events organizers for us to be part of some huge art and music festivals for 2023, and we are very close to announce new gigs in Brisbane, Gold Coast and possibly other regions in Queensland.
Mango Matic also was a guest in the Radio Latina Brisbane program in 2022, when we had the opportunity to join the Latin radio community for 98.1 fm where we talked about the band, the upcoming projects and how the live music keeps growing in Brisbane, specially within the Latin scene.
In regards of the Saturday night event on the 3rd of June at It’s Still A Secret, we will be joining forces with our rock friends “Your Naked Sister”, a latin rock band that has been on the scene since 2018 with many important performances in Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast. Dj I.am.chica with a folk instrumentation and a fusion of latin rhythms will warm up the night! Bring your dancing shoes, we will create an incredible energetic atmosphere for everyone to sing along, dance, jump and have a great time. Both bands are characterized for having high energy performances and lots of interaction with the audience, so we can guarantee that anyone who enjoys live music, including non-spanish speakers, will have a great time and will witness some great musicians in action. We will be playing all different genres from Funk, Rock, Ska, Jazz, Salsa, Cumbia and many other styles that propose a very diverse set list for all musical tastes, with original songs and popular bangers to keep everyone engaged and excited.
