‘We Are Not Powerless’ Movie Screening

Mansfield Rural Australians for Refugees Fundraising Matinee

Documentary (Unclassified 15+) 90 mins. Australia 2025. Dir: Muzafar Ali and Jolyon Hoff.

Ten years ago Muzafar and his wife escaped the Taliban in Afghanistan to live in Indonesia

when Australia ‘stopped the boats’. Undaunted, they started a small school which soon

became the hub of a community and the most successful refugee-led initiative in the world.

This movie tells the story of what can happen when a community refuses to give in and

works together for hope, love, and education.

Ticket price $25 includes afternoon tea following the screening
