Event description

New Dates are confirmed!

Kia hiwa rā, kia hiwa rā! Whakarongo ki te karanga nei, haere mai, whakatau mai rā.

We are excited to be holding our first ever Pou Tūhono Noho Marae at Wairewa Marae!

The noho will be held at Wairewa Marae from the 14th of September to the 15th of September 2023.

We want to create space for people to build connections through whanaungatanga, engage in deep kōrero, shared learning, and have some fun, laughter and waiata along the way. Our kauapapa is to support each other while growing ourselves in our mahi.

We will explore the history of Wairewa Marae, tikanga, and more. Through these learnings, we will connect with each other to build strong relationships that will enhance our youth sector.

Patai- Question: Do I have to be able to speak Māori to attend?

Whakautu- Answer: No, you don't- come as you are with what you have. Come and enjoy!

Patai- Question: Do I have to be Māori to come to this?

Whakautu- Answer: Pou Tūhono is set up to tautoko and contribute to Kaimahi Māori in their practice. Tangata Tiriti/Pakeha/Tangata Moana are welcome to attend and we would ask that you understand and are committed to your role as Tiriti partners in your contexts.

We encourage everyone to ensure they are aware of this commitment to these incredible two days.

We will be offering a bus tour around Ōtautahi with education around some important spots. This is included in your ticket price if you are attending the Noho. We will all head on this bus tour then head out to Wairewa Marae. This may be an opportunity to carpool together out to Wairewa. The Pōwhiri will begin at 12:30pm on the 14th so we request that you can be there at 12pm to go over our waiata. We will then wrap up at 5pm on the 15th.
