Mapping Sensory Memories
Description
Led by neurodivergent artist, Finni, we will explore the sensory joy of experimental mark making. Allowing yourself to enjoy the moment of each mark, letting sensory input guide your drawing. This workshop includes drawing as grounding techniques and reconnection to our 5 senses.
Finni's lived experience as a neurodivergent artist with anxiety informs her practice and this workshop. Finni has experience designing mental health spaces; The Nook by SAMH.
Using art materials such as charcoal, paints and pens we will make marks on paper. If you have any sensory dislikes, do let us know. We can provide gloves and anything else that may help, or feel free to not join in for the parts that you may not enjoy.
The Studio is located on the ground floor and is accessible and there is an accessible toilet.
This workshop is part of Finni’s Blank Canvas Residency called Sensing Around. Finni is using sensory exploration workshops to collaborate with people who seek sensory input. She is exploring how people make their mark in their local area and how understanding the sensory make up of the world around us can support placemaking and identity in our built environment.
