Mapping the Legacy: Village Artists Tell Their Stories
H B Playwrights Foundation Theatre
New York NY, United States
Description
The Performing Arts Legacy Project (PAL), an initiative of the Entertainment Community Fund, is an online public platform where older performing arts professionals are invited to document their careers, on their own terms. This panel, moderated by PAL founder Joan Jeffri, will bring together a group of ground-breaking Village artists who have mapped their stories on the site.
Playwright Barbara Kahn, bilingual actor/director/producer Alicia Kaplan, founder of Danisarte, and performance artist and activist Lulu Lolo will talk about the focus and evolution of their work, their experience of the Village context, and of generations of change. With additional excerpts from the sites of iconic PAL artists we have lost in recent years – George Bartenieff, Agosto Machado, and Juan Villarreal. Learn more about the extraordinary PAL resource, the spectrum of histories it contains, and how artists and arts workers can participate. Hosted by HB Studio.
