August and June, the sophomore full-length from Melbourne-based musician and performer Mara MacDonald (Mararara), will be available on streaming and cassette 27th of September via First Light Records

Come to Eastmint studios on October 5th to see Mara MacDonald, Amy Rogers, and Lucie Coffrey reinterpret the album as an improvisational fever dream of amplified piano, looped trumpet, bass guitar feedback, and voice. They will be joined by Dummy Tree and Fin Healy.

Dummy Tree is Body Clock, Other Joe, and Yunzero.

Fin has worked collaboratively across a range of genres. Her solo performances engage the sonic qualities of electric guitar through hypnotic  arpeggiation and extended techniques

///////////////////////////////////////

In August and June, Mara MacDonald treads intimate ground, picking up fragments of sound and voice and holding them to the light. Sewn together, these fragments (water, doors, breath, pulse) become stories about relationships: their possibility, their awkwardness, their joy, and their grief. Like the relationships they recount, each one of the album’s five tracks is the product of collaboration: an object fashioned by dialogue between two perspectives. Guests include pillar of the Australian noise scene, Uboa, and prolific Portland producer, Kaho Matsui.

The result of these creative relationships is an album that floats decisively between daydreaming ambience and unflinching dissonance, its delicate fluttering electronics and spacious piano lines punctuated by searing, unsteady noise. It is, like all collaborations, more than the sum of its parts: a hopeful and tender artifact that lives and grows outside the bodies that created it.

ACCESSIBILITY Eastmint is accessible via wheelchair through the non main entrance, there is a small sliding door frame that we can place a ramp over the top of. Please get in touch if you require this option via email eastmintrecords@gmail.com or call Esala on 0412106430. We regret we are unable to provide accessible toilet facilities at this time, although there is wheelchair access to the hand washing sink which is a private space. Closest accessible toilets located at the Peacock Hotel 150m away. There are no windows that are openable in the space but we will open the double doors between sets for airflow. The space is quite cavernous with high ceilings and is an un-renovated warehouse so not tightly sealed. We use a HEPA filter rated to 50sq m but the space is closer to 100sq m in size. There is a quiet/er space available in the front office, although the music will still be audible. Please let us know if you would like to access this at any point. Please contact eastmintrecords@gmail.com if you require any other info.
