About The Bow Tides:

Celtic ensemble The Bow Tides is led by three resplendent Irish fiddlers: Ellery Klein, Jessie Burns and the renowned Irish dancer, Katie Grennan. These dynamic women, with a combined 16 years of experience on the road with Irish American supergroup Gaelic Storm, bring with them a wealth of stage and studio expertise. Eric Thorin, a twice Grammy-nominated bassist, and Jeff Lindblade, a gifted guitarist, provide the rhythmic foundation and rousing song stylings.

Formed in 2020, the group quickly gained recognition, receiving rave reviews for their virtual festival appearances commissioned by the Spanish Peaks Irish Festival and the Pittsburgh Irish Festival. A year later they met in person for the first time on the main stage at the Pittsburgh Irish Festival, debuting their stunning original compositions, rich harmonies, and driving traditional tunes and songs specifically orchestrated for their triple-fiddle, guitar, and double bass lineup.

In 2023, the Bow Tides released their debut album, “Sailing On,” a trove of gorgeous original compositions and carefully orchestrated traditional tunes from Ireland, Scotland, and Galicia. The album has been critically acclaimed by artists such as Liz Carroll and has propelled the group on a thrilling journey, headlining festivals across the United States, including the prestigious Milwaukee and Kansas City Irish Festivals.

JESSIE BURNS

Jessie Burns, raised in a large and musical English family with strong Irish cultural and musical influences through her father’s side, has been playing multiple instruments since the age of seven. She has collaborated with renowned musicians like Gregory Allan Isakov, Mollie O’Brien, Bonnie Paine and The Bow Tides. However, she is best known for her six-year international tour with supergroup Gaelic Storm, during which she recorded three #1 Billboard World Music hit albums.

KATIE GRENNAN

Katie Grennan’s traditional fiddle playing carries the articulation of a gifted classical musician tempered by the soul of a champion Irish dancer. Her wide-ranging experience as an international touring performer in both live stage productions and television has given her a unique platform as an ambassador for the music of her heart. Born and raised in Wexford, PA, though residing in the Chicagoland area for over a decade, Katie has recorded several solo albums and is the founding member of a number of cutting-edge musical projects, including The Bow Tides and Reverie Road.

ELLERY KLEIN

Ellery Klein fiddles with an authentic and driving style forged from decades in Boston, MA. She lived for several years in Ireland and earned an MA in Traditional Irish Music from the University of Limerick in 2001. Ellery toured nationally with Gaelic Storm from 2003-2007. She currently performs with Portland, ME-Boston Irish music trio Fodhla. Ellery is passionate about conservation and nature, and along with Laurel Martin has created a program of Irish tunes focused on birds and agriculturally themed tunes called “Stop and Listen: Irish Music’s Invitation to Observe.” Ellery appeared in Duluth, MN, performing Celtic violin with the Lake Superior Chamber Orchestra in Nickitas Demos’ “Long Journey Home, Double Concerto for Celtic Fiddler and Bluegrass Fiddler.”

ERIC THORIN

When not on the road, Eric Thorin, musician and bassist residing on the majestic front range of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, can be seen on stage at eTown Hall in Boulder as a member of house bands The eTones and Hippie Bluegrass Church. He frequently graces the stage with The Matt Flinner Trio, Bonnie Paine, Mollie O’Brien and Tony Furtado. Additionally, he embarked on a tour with the renowned Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band, adding bass to the Grammy-nominated album Calling You From My Mountain. Eric was also honored to be included on the Grammy-nominated recording “Man On Fire” by Danny Barnes.

JEFF LINDBLADE

Jeff Lindblade is a multi-instrumental performer (guitar, uilleann pipes, Irish flute, and tin whistle) and vocalist with a passion for traditional and contemporary Irish music. Based outside of Chicago, in addition to being a well-respected member of the Chicago Irish music scene and a welcomed player at local music sessions, he has toured across the US and internationally with several Irish stage and dance productions. His current projects include The STEAM Irish Quartet and The Bow Tides. Jeff took up the guitar at a young age and began playing traditional Irish music as a young adult. He has since traveled extensively in Ireland, absorbing traditional melodies and culture and falling in love with the sound of the Irish bagpipes, the uilleann pipes.

About Alexa Wildish:

Colorado singer-songwriter Alexa Wildish grew up in a musical family in the horse country of Southern California, where her father collected vintage guitars and she studied classical voice from age seven. She spent her school years in musical theatre, but at age 17, an entirely different musical spark was ignited when she saw The Wailin’ Jennys open for Nickel Creek, and she took the hard-left turn from musical theatre to Americana. She had been on her way to Broadway, but the lure of performing original material was strong; she threw herself into songwriting, learned guitar and octave mandolin, and never looked back.

Alexa released her self-titled debut EP in 2020, staking her claim as one of Americana’s most compelling new voices and making it easy to see why she took home first place at Planet Bluegrass’s emerging singer-songwriter competition in 2019. With a pristine voice likened to Alison Krauss and Eva Cassidy, her lyric “I'll be your refuge, a place you can go,” aptly describes the rich and mystical soundscapes she so deftly inhabits on her freshman effort.

Alexa’s latest EP After Love comes after her celebrated run as a contestant on NBC’s The Voice in 2023 and is the singer-songwriter’s ambitious submission to the cover record canon. Building upon the modern folk sound of her first EP, After Love is both lush and disciplined, poetic and technically brilliant--an ode to the art of crafting a cover song with staying power.
