March Advanced Nose Work Saturday in West Roxbury - Containers focus
Event description
Advanced Nose Work will take place at Theodore Parker Church in West Roxbury on recurring Saturday afternoons (3/1,3/8, 3/15, 3/22, 4/5, 4/12) for 6 sessions. Each session will be 50 minutes long and be held between 2 and 2:50 pm. Note there is no class on 3/29.
This course needs a minimum of 4 students to run and will be canceled or rescheduled if the minimum isn't met.
This session will focus on containers: container patterns, distractors, handling, and confidence. These skills are fun and pertinent even if you don't participate in trials. Prerequisite for this course is Intro to K9 Nose Work, Intro to Odor, and Intermediate Nose Work. Please contact me if you need the prerequisite or have questions.
K9 Nose Work is a fun activity for dogs of all ages, sizes, and levels of physical ability. The activity gives your dog the opportunity to use and develop their natural ability to detect odor. This course is a continuation of Intro to K9 Nose Work and Intro to Odor. Dogs will continue their introduction to all three odors used in NACSW (birch, anise, and clove) in this class while continuing to build confidence and independence in searching.
For this class, each dog will have time in the building or exterior spaces alone to help build confidence and independence, which means the other dogs in the course will be outside or contained while a dog is working. There will be an informational email after registration that will go over logistics, safety, considerations for all weather conditions, and frequently asked questions.
Advanced K9 Nose Work is taught by Sara Saperstein, MA, KPA-CTP, CNWI, FFCP.
