March for Nature with the Australian Marine Conservation Society
Event description
Bring the blue and march for nature on 5 October!
The future of our oceans and marine wildlife is at stake. Inaction has led to a crisis underwater. Our Great Barrier Reef is suffering from repeated mass bleaching events, industrialised fishing is depleting fish populations and putting threatened species at risk, marine animals are dying from plastic pollution, fossil fuel giants are lining up to seismic blast and drill for gas inside critical whale habitat, and rare native species like Maugean skates and sea lions are facing extinction. Nature above and beneath the waves is at breaking point.
The Albanese government’s promised new nature protection laws have stalled badly, and time is running out. Nature urgently needs strong and enforced laws that protect, restore and build resilience. Continuing business as usual is not an option – nature's survival depends on decisive action now.
On 5 October, we’re marching alongside other leading conservation groups to demand our government deliver the urgently needed new laws. While we all love our koalas and forests, we need to make sure that marine wildlife isn't forgotten! Throw on some blue and join us to represent life beneath the waves at this important rally.
The world will be watching as the Albanese government hosts the first global Nature Positive Summit from 8-10 October in Sydney. Let's make our voices heard loud and clear: No Nature, No Future!
Join us for a big, powerful and inspiring March for Nature, to stand with each other, our living world, and the wildlife and places we love.
