Event description
Join artist Mariana del Castillo and explore handmade mark-making tools connecting you to her collection of natural materials. Using walnut and sumi ink on your concertina book, you will discover the immediacy and joy of creating nature studies. In the afternoon you will assemble your own hand- made Japanese bound book and continue your explorations of paper techniques and mark making.
Mariana is an Ecuadorian born, Australian multidisciplinary artist living and working in Ngunnawal and Ngambri land. Mariana has received numerous awards, and her works are held in public, corporate and private collections in Australia and overseas. Mariana has been a professional practicing artist for the past thirty years since graduating from the ANU Art School. Alongside her professional practice Mariana delivers Mindful workshops that offer small scale opportunities to be creative and engage with the natural environment in a rich and sensitive way. Mariana is currently a visual arts mentor for the University of Canberra ADF Arts for Recovery Program.
