Marimba Extravaganza

Meet the wind band instruments as they join marimbas for a massive, family-friendly musical spectacle! Presented by North Shore Winds, featuring the North Shore Junior Winds and the North Shore Youth Symphonic Winds!

Fresh off their performances at the ONZA Marimba Festival -where they played purely as marimba ensembles- talented young musicians from Kids Music Company, Mairangi Bay School, and Mission Heights Primary School are joining forces with our bands for something truly special.

In a feature collaboration, these groups will perform marimba works composed and conducted by Leah Munroe. Specially arranged for massed marimba ensemble AND full concert band playing together, this combined setup creates an unforgettable, huge wall of sound that you won't hear anywhere else!

Along with this spectacular marimba showcase, the programme features a lineup of popular tunes designed to introduce the instruments of the band. Audience members of all ages will learn how each instrument makes its unique sound and see what makes every corner of the wind band so exciting. We will end the performance with a rare opportunity for audience to walk through the band as they play!
