Marine Fossil Fossick!
Event description
Join us for an unforgettable morning exploring one of Victoria's most beautiful protected marine sanctuaries. With accessible shallow waters, fascinating fossil formations and abundant tide pools, this special location offers children a perfect introduction to our incredible underwater world.
Your young marine scientists will be guided by Diana, our resident marine archaeologist and fossil expert, as they:
- Discover the diverse creatures living in our rock pools
- Learn about ancient marine fossils
- Create their own clay fossil impressions to take home
- Connect with nature through hands-on learning and creative activities
Why This Matters: Research shows that early connections with nature support children's physical and emotional development, preparing them for success in school and beyond. Our experienced educators blend scientific discovery, art, and mindfulness for a truly enriching experience.
About Your Guide: Diana brings her extensive background in archaeology and paleontology, along with her deep love for our marine ecosystems, to every session. As a local resident, she offers unique insights into this special marine environment.
Conservation Note: As visitors to this protected sanctuary, we practise and teach gentle observation techniques. Please wear reef-safe footwear and remember our "leave no trace" policy. We'll provide collection bags for any litter we find - helping keep our marine sanctuary pristine for future generations.
Perfect for ages 4-10 years (Infants under 14 months welcome free of charge; please note rock platforms may be slippery for very young siblings)
All materials provided *Parents/guardians must supervise their children throughout the session
