Event description

General Information:

The Collie Public Library Mario Kart Championship is open to all children aged between 6 and 16 years. Children aged under 10 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who will stay for the duration of the event.

The competition will be played on Nintendo Switch Mario Kart Deluxe. Controllers will be provided. Races will be played 4 racers at a time. Cups and courses will be drawn at random.

Championship check in will open at 9.40am and close 5 minutes before competition start time. Late check ins will not be accepted. We will begin the competition once all players are registered.

Trash talking is allowed, but no swearing or bad behaviour.

Rules:

  • Players may pick any character. Players also may switch characters between matches. You will have 2 minutes to select your character and vehicle.
  • You will be put into random heats for round one once you arrive and check in.
  • Races will all be run as VS.
  • Cups and courses will be randomly selected from a hat by competition organisers. All available cups will be eligible for selection.
  • All races will be played in 100cc.
  • First and second place of each match will proceed to the quarterfinals.
  • First and second place of each match in the quarterfinals will proceed to the semi-finals.
  • First place in each of the semi-finals will proceed to the grand final.
  • When a match is ended, players must leave the score screen up for the scorekeeper to record the results. Passing this screen will invalidate the match and all players forfeit.
  • All normal Mario Kart play is allowed, including using short cuts.
  • Organisers have the final say in all decisions.
