A contemporary revival of Stephen Sondheim’s song cycle, 'Marry Me a Little' follows two isolated strangers longing for connection, reimagining their story through the lens of today’s digital world and asking whether love is real, or just fantasy.
Loneliness. Yearning. Lust. Desire.
'Marry Me a Little' is a narrative song cycle built from material cut from Stephen Sondheim’s most iconic works. It follows two strangers, isolated in their neighbouring studio apartments on a Saturday night, longing for love, connection, and intimacy - yet never meeting.
This contemporary revival reimagines the piece for the digital age, exploring the isolating, performative reality of finding love online. Through Sondheim’s timeless music and lyrics, the production contemplates how human connection is formed, sustained, or fabricated in today’s world. Are we closer than ever, or is it all just fantasy?

PARKING
The City of Melbourne has recently changed the parking restrictions around the Southbank Campus. Parking control hours are now expanded to 7am–10pm, seven days per week, and are capped at three hours. A $2-per-hour fee after 7pm is also now in place. There is no change to the $4-per-hour peak rate between 7am–7pm. Parking inspectors are regularly in the area fining drivers who overstay their meter, so we encourage everyone to be aware and avoid an expensive fine. More information.
