The venue will be open from 5.30pm with food & drinks available. Doors open 6pm for a strict 6.30pm start.

Join us for a two hour concert with a short interval. The Citadel bar will remain open after the event.

Kristan Burnand - Jazz Guitar

Musician, teacher & composer Kristan is passionate about all aspects of music.

Kristan studied at the Wellington Conservatorium of Music, NZ graduating with a Bachelor of Music majoring in Jazz guitar, Kristan found his way to the Northern rivers about seven years ago.

This virtuoso, also known as ‘Burning Hands’, will be sure to leave an impression with his sensitive & tasteful styling.

Kristan has toured extensively both here & abroad, playing across many genres.

This skilful artist will no doubt further inspire with his rare vintage American Jazz guitars.

You can also hear Kristan playing locally Solo, in the dazzling duo Gypsy Gin & with his Blues Band Burning Hands.

Peter Cook - Bass Guitar

The Bass called to Peter from an early age.

His favourite instrument being the five string fretless bass with its warm sound, rich in texture from deep lows to euphonium like highs, which he wields with such grace that it lulls you into a peaceful state of deep listening.

Having moved from Victoria about six years ago, Peter has shared his talents with many bands, complimenting varied genres from Folk to Blues, Jazz fusion & Swing.

You may have had the pleasure of hearing Peter play with Elena Williams, Hubcap Stan, Jamie Ashforth Band & Burning Hands Band.

Michael Di Cecco - Drums

Drummer & Director of Yodelay Music.

Former Melbournian, Michael has also found a new home in the Northern Rivers.

This gentleman of Jazz has played, recorded & toured with all manner of bands & artists.

Having played for well over 25 years, he may look young but is an old musical soul & an absolute delight to listen to.

With a musical background in Funk, Soul, Reggae & Jazz, Michael holds a special love for the early styles of Jazz, Blues & also New Orleans brass band music.

Michael plays with Hashimoto’s Cactus, The Horns of Plenty Brass Band, The Bassix. He also organises & plays in Off The Top, a six-weekly live hip hop night held at Cabarita Surf Club.

Mary Maxwell - Vocals

Mary is a shy & subtle singer with a long held affinity for jazz. Her voice has been described as ’soothing’ & ‘a pleasure to the ears’.

Growing up listening to Classical, Flamenco, Jazz & everything else she could consume - her love for music is boundless.

Film scores, soundtracks & musicals formed much of her early listening & these influences are still strong.

As a teenager discovering Ella Fitzgerald singing Cole Porter’s Songbook & Peggy Lee’s recordings these singers became her mentors, album by album, artist by artist. Mary honed her ear & mimicked the greats. Nat King Cole, Julie London, Mel Tormé, Frank Sinatra, Dinah Washington & on & on … learning the importance of the lyric coupled with melody & of course, phrasing.

Finally landing here just over three years ago & recently connecting with these talented souls, Mary has a chance to share her sentimental & romantic repertoire with a new audience.
