Mary Miller: Advanced Course in Pain and Symptom Management, Synopsis Day & Audit - Wellington

This course is aimed at all health care professionals with an interest in Palliative Care bring. The first day brings learnings from this year's Advanced Course in Pain and Symptom Management which Mary runs in Oxford. On the second day Mary will share her knowledge from being National Clinical Lead for the UK audit of Care at the End of Life. This is both findings from the recent audit, but also practical ways to bring audit into palliative care settings.
Biography:
Dr Mary Miller
Consultant in Palliative Medicine, Sobell House, Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in Palliative Medicine, University of Oxford, Director OxCERPC (Oxford Centre for education and research in palliative care), national clinical lead for the National Audit of Care at the End of Life.
Mary qualified from University College Cork, Ireland in 1988. She trained and worked in palliative medicine in Ireland, Sweden and the UK before starting as a consultant in palliative medicine in Oxford in 1998.
Mary has a strong interest in education; she completed a Diploma in Learning and Teaching at Oxford University in 2005, was Training Programme Director and Regional Specialty Advisor (2002 – 2008) and led the Oxford Advanced Courses in Pain and Symptom Management from 2005. Since the inception of OxCERPC in 2017, Mary and the team are focusing on building an exciting portfolio of courses, building research readiness and reaching out to practitioners across the globe.
