There will be a 30-minute lunch break midway through the day. Light refreshments will be available, but lunch is not provided — there are plenty of cafés nearby.

About Ian van der Wolde

With over four decades of experience, Ian van der Wolde is one of Australia’s most respected commercial photographers and educators. A Master of Photography with two Gold Bars and an Honorary Fellow of the AIPP, Ian is renowned for his deep understanding of colour management, lighting control, and visual storytelling. As a Profoto Ambassador, he’s used the brand’s lighting systems for more than 20 years — but his teachings apply to any setup.

Do I need to bring a camera?

Yes — this is a hands-on workshop. Bring your camera (any brand), charged batteries, and memory cards.

Can I borrow a camera?

Yes, but equipment loans are limited. Please email us at events@georges.com.au at least five days before the event to request a loaner.

Will notes be provided?

Yes. You’ll receive written notes to take home, plus the option to bring your own notebook or laptop for extra tips.

Is lunch included?

No, but there will be a 40-minute break and cafés nearby for food. Light refreshments will be provided during the day.

Do I have to use Profoto lighting?

Not at all. Ian will demonstrate using Profoto gear and explain why he’s trusted it for over 20 years — but every technique applies no matter what lighting system you use.
