You are invited to a 5-hour In-Person Industry Leader Masterclass with Kim Jarrett, an award-winning Production Designer and Art Director currently the Art Director on the latest Minecraft movie!
Kim will take you into the world of the Art Department and share with you the roles and responsibilities involved in the largest department on a feature film.
Through stills and examples from various films he has worked on, he will discuss his approach to breaking a script down, the drafting and design process, the materials needed and aesthetic approach required for the model and fabrication process. The second half of the Masterclass will be hands on, where you will use your design skills with the processes taught, to design your own version of a set.
Who is Kim Jarret?
Kim Jarrett is an award-winning Production Designer, Art Director, Environmental Designer and Landscape Designer who works predominantly in Film Production Design and Art Direction as well as Themed Environment Design and Landscape Architecture.
Recent Feature film projects include Sweet Tooth, East of Eden, Predator Prey, Heart of the Beast, Minecraft 1 & 2 and Rings of Power, which won him an Art Directors Guild Art Direction Award.
He has Production Designed over 300 TV commercials and music clips including “Billy and Elton” Billy Joel and Elton John for H.B.O. “Angel’s Heap” for Neil and Tim Finn and has won multiple television Commercial Design awards across the years.
Outside of film, he is the Design Director and owner of Dawnfinder.com, a Master at De Tao Masters Academy Shanghai, and has held a Professorship in Landscape Architecture and Themed Environment Design at the Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts . He co-wrote and led the Bachelor of Themed Environment Design at Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts and Wuhan Institute of Design and Science.
