Masterclass Series 2025: Oil Pastel Landscapes with Nick Hollo
Event description
Leading our second session in this series is artist Nick Hollo with an en plein air masterclass in Manly Cove. Join Nick as he shares his unique insights, knowledge, skills and distinct approach to interpreting the harbour foreshore environment.
This one-day workshop will focus on capturing the light, texture, movement and ambience of the local landscape with oil pastels. The session will begin with a discussion and demonstration of oil pastels as a medium, and techniques for drawing what you see, in the Gallery. Participants will then put techniques into practice en plein air.
Nick will offer guided instruction to each participant as they develop their own ideas, complemented by group discussions throughout the masterclass.
Weather permitting, participants will spend the morning along the Manly Cove foreshore, enjoy a light lunch back at the gallery, and return outdoors for a final session of drawing.
This session will be limited to 15 participants and is suitable for all levels, including beginners.
Please note: In the event of inclement weather, the session will be held in the gallery space with an adjusted structure and focus.
A light lunch and tea/coffee is included. Please advise of any dietary requirements.
Please bring all your own materials, water bottle and dress for all weather. NB. While there is some outdoor seating, you may like bring your own small foldable stool / chair (if you have one) and be prepared to carry your equipment to an outdoor site.
