Capturing Water: Techniques for Painting the Ocean with Confidence
Event description
Description:
Water can be one of the most beautiful — and frustrating — subjects in painting. Its motion, reflections, transparency, colour shifts, and surface textures can stump even experienced painters.
In this skills-focused workshop, I’ll show you how I’ve learned to paint many different types of ocean water — calm bays, rolling waves, reflections, shallow water, and ocean foam. We’ll cover:
How to observe and break down the elements of water: light, shadow, reflections, colour shifts, edge work.
Techniques & brushwork for different water forms.
Demonstrations of 5-6 distinct water styles.
Time for you to practise under my guidance.
This isn’t about finishing a polished piece (though you might), it’s about learning the methods so you can carry them into your own paintings with more confidence and clarity.
