MAT Conference and Early Careers Day (ECD) 2026

Calling all Mathematics educators from across Tasmania and beyond!

The Mathematical Association of Tasmania (MAT) invites you to attend the 2026 MAT Conference, centred around the theme:
“Modern Learners, Modern Classrooms, Modern Maths.”

This year’s conference will be held from 29–30 May 2026 at St Patrick’s College, Launceston.

Early Careers Day – Friday 29 May

8:30am – 3:30pm | St Patrick’s College, Launceston

The Early Careers Day is designed for teachers who are new to the profession, teaching out-of-area, or looking to refresh and strengthen their classroom practice. The day will feature practical sessions and support tailored to early career educators.

Main Conference

Friday 29 May (Evening Program)

5:30pm – 6:30pm | Keynote Address by MAT President, Mr Brett Stephenson (St Patrick’s College)

From 7:00pm | Conference Dinner at Bluestone Bar & Kitchen, St John Street, Launceston

Saturday 30 May

8:30am – 3:30pm | St Patrick’s College, Launceston

The conference continues with a keynote presentation by Professor Jill Fielding, followed by a range of high-quality workshops delivered by mathematics educators from Tasmania and beyond. Catering (morning tea and lunch) is included.

Bursaries

Bursaries are available to support teachers from rural and remote areas.
