Matariki Beach Clean + Community Connection Kōrero & Potluck Kai
Event description
Matariki is a time for reflection, remembrance and renewal.
It marks the beginning of the Māori New Year and is a time to acknowledge the interconnectedness of all things.
For us, an important part of Matariki is showing respect for Papatūānuku (Earth Mother) and Tangaroa (God of the Sea).
This Matariki we are holding a beach clean at North Brighton, Ōtautahi!
Come clean up our beautiful beach. Bring gloves, a rubbish bag, a water bottle and an awesome working attitude!
Then we will head inside for prizes, Kōrero, community connection and a shared vegan potluck kai.
Please bring a plate of plantbased kai to share + your own plates and cutlery.
P.s. did we mention there are prizes!!!...... Some beautiful friends and neat local and ethical businesses who support this kaupapa have kindly gifted some very cool prizes for us to give to some beach cleaning superstars!!!!
