Event description

Join us as we gather to celebrate Matariki, the Māori New Year — a time to reflect, reconnect and look ahead together. The market is a family-friendly event filled with kai, culture, and community. 🌌✨

What to expect:
🌿 Hāngi, boil up, fry bread & Māori/Pasifika food trucks
🛍️ Market stalls with taonga, handmade goods, clothing & art
🎡 Whānau-friendly Rides

Optional Gold Coin entry, but tickets are required to help us manage crowd numbers and create a safe, welcoming space for all. We’re running the event in three sessions, with a limit of 400 people per session:

🕒 Session Times:
Session 1: 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM
Session 2: 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM
Session 3: 6:30 PM – 9:00 PM

Each ticket gives access to one session. If you'd like to attend more than one, you’ll need to book a ticket for each time slot (subject to availability). Walk-ins may be accepted if the session is under capacity, but booking ahead is your best bet.

🎟️ Fundraiser: Win Te Kohinga Whetū — a taonga for Matariki
We’re also running a special raffle to raise funds for our NMP Taiohi (Teens 10–17yrs), with the chance to win a stunning framed print of Te Kohinga Whetū — a powerful artwork created especially for Matariki and this kaupapa.

🖼 About the Artwork – Te Kohinga Whetū:
This circular design features nine koru, each representing a star in the Matariki cluster. Each form is mirrored to reflect both the uniqueness and shared purpose of the stars — just like our whānau and communities. From life-giving waters, to winds, rain, and remembrance, to hope for the future, this piece is a reflection of whakapapa, connection, and the journey we carry into the new year.

Tickets for the raffle will be available on the night — all proceeds go directly to supporting our NMP youth.
