Material, Map, Method

We are pleased to invite you to: Material, Map, Method, an exhibition at 3553 in Collingwood bringing together a strong cohort of local and international architectural practices, academics and designers leading the charge in material reuse at the scale of the component and the building.

Reuse asks something different of architects. It demands documenting the existing with the same care as the proposed, revealing opportunities not just within a project site but across the wider networks of materials, suppliers, consultants and regulations that underpin reuse. That documentation now takes many forms: drawing, but also hands-on making, open source publishing, digital tools and other emerging methods, all working to communicate material histories, navigate uncertainty, and coordinate the contingencies of building with what already exists.

The exhibition will be open for viewing from the 14–22nd of August. The opening celebration will be held on the 14th of August from 6pm onwards.

With thanks to our project partner The Naarm Architecture Foundation and support from The Mori Provan Foundation.
