MATES in Construction SA Annual Fundraising Lunch 2024
Event description
It’s about owning the problem, it’s about taking action, and it’s about making a difference.
In the Australian construction industry, suicide rates are higher than the average population – this is a fact.
We lose on average 190 construction workers to suicide each year: Construction Workers are 8x more likely to die by suicide than in a workplace accident and our young workers are at even greater risk. 75% of suicide deaths are men, and approximately 65% of suicide attempts are women.
If this is going to change, we all need to be part of the solution.
The MATES in Construction program directly supports those in our industry who need help and provides ways for everyone to play their part. Join us on Friday, 17 May, at Adelaide Oval for our 2024 Annual Fundraising Lunch, where we will bring into focus the work we have been doing to prevent suicide in the industry and the people who are stepping up to make a difference.
Through the event this year, we will be raising funds to support our program to continue to offer training and support services for free to the construction Industry, workers and their immediate families.
Preventing suicide takes a whole-of-industry approach, and we can all make a difference if we choose to. Put this date in your diary and book your tickets today!
