Come along to this Maths Play Launch Party where we will celebrate this year's International Day of Maths theme - Maths for everyone!

In our 1-hour together, we will:

✨ explore open-ended activities with positive messages, and powerful ideas that anyone of any age and any mathematical experience can explore.

✨ access resources to support a playful maths learning journey

✨ learn more about the Maths Play Movement. You'll also be invited to share any ideas you have for future activities

Interactive participation is optional - feel free to share ideas in the chat or on social media as we play, or be a fly on the (virtual) wall

Leading the fun:

Session Host: Alex Box. Alex is a Primary Teacher and Education Researcher specialising in mathematical play. Alex identifies as formerly maths-anxious, and so brings important perspectives to conversations about learning maths. These days, Alex coordinates Maths Play activities. This involves collaborating with organisations, schools and individuals on education projects that raise awareness about the open, creative and playful nature of mathematics.

Featured Guest: Dr Ange Rogers. Ange is a Teacher Mentor, Consultant and Education Lecturer at RMIT University in Melbourne. Ange pairs a deep knowledge of number with playful and evidence-based teaching strategies and her research into fostering numeracy is well-known and influential in the maths education space. Ange supports and guides numeracy teachers and leaders through the Numeracy Teachers Academy and through Simply Maths PD.

Teachers may be able to count this session as a professional learning hour. This will depend on the regulations of the institution you are registered with.
